Wine Producer Trophy, Gold Medal to Casa delle Colonne Brut Riserva 2015 and seven award-winning wines.
The IWSC Global Judging Producer Trophies were introduced in 2024 as a recognition of the world’s most important wine areas and an award to their outstanding producers. The only awards in the world where judges visit producers, the last editions were held in Austria, South Africa and Georgia.
March saw the conclusion at the Consortium’s headquarters in Erbusco, Italy’s first IWSC evaluation event by production region, with Franciacorta as the protagonist. The jury, chaired by Essi Avellan, evaluated 87 wines in a wide range of styles – NV, Millesimati and Riserve – awarding Freccianera the Franciacorta Wine Producer Trophy and seven medals, including the gold medal for Casa delle Colonne Brut Riserva 2015.
Jury evaluations
In the statement released in recent days Essi Avellan – Finland’s first Master of Wine and a renowned international specialist in champagne and sparkling wines – gave an important endorsement to the winery with these words: all seven Freccianera wines we evaluated won a medal and impressed us, a testament to the experience and mastery of Fratelli Berlucchi in managing their winery. No brand has had more accolades than Freccianera, and Casa delle Colonne Brut Riserva 2015, winner of a gold medal, particularly highlights the incontestable quality achieved by Franciacorta.
Judges awarded a gold medal to Freccianera Casa delle Colonne Brut Riserva 2015, with this motivation: “An expressive bouquet of ripe apple, yellow plum and a hint of toasted almond, supported by lively lemon zest. A Franciacorta that reveals a dry, balanced profile on the palate with refreshing acidity and a touch of salty minerality. A creamy mousse adds depth, leading to a complex finish of orange peel and subtle spice that leaves an impression of elegance and liveliness.”
