As the only winery in Franciacorta to have its entire production of sparkling wines honored with 7 awards, Freccianera confirms the results of its significant investments in quality and technological updates, which for years have earned it a constant growth in scores recognized in international competitions and by the leading guides.
Borgonato (BS), June 18, 2026 – Extraordinary result for Freccianera at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2026. The Franciacorta winery earned a surprising “Best in Show Award” for its Satèn Millesimato 2022, the only Italian sparkling wine to be given this recognition. There are also awards for all its other six Franciacortas, with the two “Casa delle Colonne” Reserves winning a Gold Award.

Nearly 17,000 wines from 58 countries participated in the 2026 edition of the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), the world’s largest wine competition, blind-tasted by 245 industry experts, including 63 Master of Wine and 24 Master Sommeliers, from 35 different nations. Each award-winning wine passed a rigorous multi-stage evaluation process, with the highest-scoring wines repeatedly tasted and discussed by expert panels before receiving Gold, Platinum, or Best in Show recognition.
“The DWWA evaluation process is one of the most demanding in the world – commented Nicola Berlucchi, President of Freccianera. The results achieved by our winery’s wines reward, as never before, the mastery with which we interpret the Franciacorta method and the excellence of our productions. A result that fills us with satisfaction and that will support our growth both in the Italian market and abroad, where the guide Decanter has become one of the most authoritative in the world, for both consumers and industry professionals.”
The other award-winning Freccianera wines are the Millesimati Extra Brut 2022, Brut Nature 2022, and Brut Rosé 2022 with a SILVER MEDAL, and the non-vintage Brut 25 Blanc de Blancs with a BRONZE MEDAL. Seven awards in total, out of the twenty-nine recognized by Decanter 2026 for Franciacorta companies.
The honors obtained at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2026 are part of a path of constant growth that in recent years has seen Freccianera consolidate its presence in the main national and international wine guides, confirming a strategy based on continuous investments in the vineyard and in the cellar, on the enhancement of individual plots, and on an uncompromising pursuit of quality.
The “Best in Show” awarded to the Satèn Millesimato 2022 represents today the most evident symbol of this vision: a recognition that celebrates not only a wine, but the very identity of a winery that continues to establish itself among the most authoritative protagonists of contemporary Franciacorta.
